Founded in 1904, CertainTeed was for years known as the nation’s premier asphalt shingle manufacturer. Its name, borrowed from the company’s original slogan (“Quality made certain, Satisfaction Guaranteed”), reflects the reputation CertainTeed has since developed across the exterior building products industry. After acquiring fiberglass and PVC manufacturing capabilities in the 1960s, CertainTeed expanded its offering to include solid vinyl siding. It has since developed celebrated polymer and polyurethane composite systems that provide the look of wood without any of the drawbacks of using natural building materials. A subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, one of the world’s largest and oldest building products companies, CertainTeed operates more than 60 manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and Canada. Based in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, CertainTeed and its affiliates employ more than 5,700 people.
Priced at a fraction of the cost of traditional materials, CertainTeed’s Landmark laminate roofing shingle is designed to replicate the appearance of a cedar shake. It is available in a full array of colors that compliment any trim, stucco or siding. The dual-layered construction of Landmark shingles provides extra protection from the elements, and they come with a ten year StreakFighter® algae-resistance warranty. CertainTeed’s Patriot shingle is a single-layered asphaltic strip that uses CertainTeed’s advanced color technology to mimic the appearance of multi-layered architectural shingles. Patriot shingles last longer and provide greater resistance to weathering than standard strip shingle systems. Along with having a ten year StreakFighter® algae-resistance warranty, Patriot shingles are certified by Underwriter Laboratories as compliant with quality standards for wind, fire and tear resistance.
For the 21st year in a row, CertainTeed vinyl siding has been named number one in familiarity, use, and quality by Hanley-Wood’s builder and contractor brand use study. CertainTeed’s vinyl sidings are available in a full spectrum, including unique darker shades and semi-transparent stained colors, and are backed by a PermaColor Lifetime Fade Protection. A range of CedarLife™ color blends ensures that any natural wood appearance can be matched, and the new STONEfaçade™ line even mimics the look of custom masonry. With many optional textures, widths, and insulation options, as well as Class A Flame Spread classification, wind resitance, full moisture drainage, and minimal lifetime maintenance, CertainTeed’s vinyl siding is sure to remain an industry favorite for years to come.
